5 Ways a Tankless Water Heater can Save You Money

Tankless water heaters are an excellent alternative to your standard gas boiler or electric water heater. Not only do they take up less space in your home, but you’ll find they can save you money in a number of ways:

Long life expectancy – The lifespan of your average gas or electric boiler is anywhere from 10 to 15 years, depending on the brand and quality of the heater. With tankless heaters, you can get more than 20 years of daily use before needing to replace them. You won’t have to buy a new heater any time soon!

Rebates – Did you know many states and cities offer tax rebates for those who reduce energy and water usage? As of 2015, tankless water heaters with a good energy rating (0.82 or higher) are eligible for a $300 tax rebate from the U.S. Government. No doubt your city offers additional tax credits and rebates for making the switch to energy-efficient appliances. It’s definitely worth looking into when considering changing your water heater.

You always have hot water – With a gas or electric boiler, you only get as much hot water as is available in the tank. If you run out of hot water, you have to wait for it to be re-heated. Not so with a tankless water heater! You’ll spend less time waiting for the water to heat up, so less water goes down the drain in the shower. You’ll always have hot water when you need it!

Less energy used – That’s right, a tankless water heater reduces your energy consumption—by as much as 35%, in fact! The fact that there is no heat loss (common with hot wat sitting in a tank) means there is no need to reheat water to keep it hot. The water heater only works when you need hot water. The rest of the time it’s switched off and saving you electricity or gas. You can see energy savings of up to 50% with the right tankless water heater setup.

More storage space – This is a small thing in terms of savings, but it can help you avoid having to rent extra storage space for all those important items you want to store. A tankless water heater uses up far less space in your home, so you have more room for boxes that don’t fit in your attic, basement, or garage.

The truth is that a tankless water heater, while initially more expensive than a regular gas or electric tank heater, will save you a lot of money in the long run. It’s definitely worth considering if you’re looking to go green and reduce your carbon footprint!
